What it is about

The two of you set out in a castle in permanent snow and are separated at once. Each sees different rooms, finds different clues and faces different switches — your only link is a radio.

The whole game follows from that: one describes four coats of arms, the other looks for the matching four levers. Who has which role changes chapter by chapter, and both sides have to be played to know the whole story.

The telling is sparse, carried by radio chatter and whatever is lying around the rooms. After the ending a second run with the roles swapped is worth it — then you see the half you missed first time round.

Our verdict for couples

Two different rooms, one radio, and neither of you can show the other what you are looking at. One has a symbol in front of them, the other a lock, and everything depends on how well you can describe — that is the game here. When it works, you have jointly solved something neither of you ever saw in full, and that makes for a very good evening. When it does not, you spend an hour in two different rooms and you are both right. Without microphones there is no point starting.

Pros

  • Built entirely around two people
  • You talk more than you click
  • Playable across platforms

Cons

  • The puzzles give too little feedback
  • Disconnections are reported often
  • Both of you need a microphone, or nothing works at all

What other co-op fans say

No community on our list is as divided, and the fault line runs the same way everywhere: those who commit to the talking write enthusiastically about the moment when understanding suddenly clicks. Those who get stuck accuse the game of giving too little feedback — several describe hours of trial and error with nothing to go on. Technical complaints about disconnections come on top. One thing stands out: almost everybody names the person they played with, by name or as their partner.

  • “once you're comunication with your partner "clicks" its alot of fun”
  • “Almost broke up with my partner while playing this one. Zero regrets, would do it again.”
  • “Not enough clues/hints are provided, and some puzzles are just confusing”
