Lethal Company
Underpaid salvage crews collect scrap on abandoned moons, trying not to get eaten.
What it is about
You work for a company that drops you on abandoned moons to collect scrap. There is a deadline, a sum, and if you fail to make it that is the end for everybody.
The routine is always the same and never quite the same: land, enter a building, search by torchlight, pack up anything portable and get back to the ship in time. Things live in those corridors that you would rather not shine a light on.
The voice link matters most. Whoever stays on the ship sees the others on a screen and can steer them through the corridors — and listens in when it goes wrong. With two that usually means one goes in and one stays up top and talks.
Our verdict for couples
The deadline is the same whether four of you head out or two: one quota, three days, one ship. As a pair you have half the hands and roughly twice the fear, and because you talk over the radio the whole time, you hear precisely when the other one gets caught. That is what it lives on — provided you both have a microphone and do not take jump scares personally. For the price of a lunch you get more evenings out of it than you would like.
Pros
- Very cheap for a great many evenings
- The voice link is part of the game
- Every run tells its own small story
Cons
- Without a microphone you lose half of it
- The quota is tuned for more than two
- No local co-op
- Still in Early Access, updates are rare
Suitable from
Hobby
- Conflict potential

- Draining
- When you can stop
- After 30–45 minutes
- How long it lasts
- No ending
What other co-op fans say
The community is unusually united about where the appeal lies: not in the game but in the group. Again and again it is said that it is exactly as good as the people you play it with — and that the best moments are the ones where somebody else dies. What gets praised is the low price and that it still frightens people years on. The objections concern the pipeline and the state of it: the game is in Early Access, updates are rare, and it audibly works better with four than with two.
- “imo its as fun as the people you play it with”
- “one of the only games that can keep scaring me long after my first experience”
- “rare updates and very buggy ones”
