Unrailed!
A train sets off, the track is not built yet, and it will not wait.
What it is about
A locomotive rolls across a landscape of blocks, and the track ahead of it is not built yet. That is the entire setup, and no more is needed: you have to be faster than the train.
Which means work. Trees get felled, rocks mined, both become new track pieces in the carriage, and somebody has to pick those up and lay them where the line continues. Meanwhile the engine overheats, a river blocks the way, or locals start throwing stones.
With two, the division sorts itself out after two runs — one gathers, one builds. You play on one screen or online, and there is a mode where two crews race each other.
Our verdict for couples
The train sets off as soon as the first rails are down, and after that it does not stop. You chop wood, break stone and lay track, and because that is exactly three jobs for two people, one of them is always behind. As a pair the work still divides remarkably cleanly: one gathers, one builds, and from the second minute onwards you speak only in shouts. After a few evenings you know the patterns, but until then there is hardly a game where a second of hesitation comes back at you so immediately.

What other co-op fans say
The community describes almost uniformly the same evening: there is laughter, there is shouting, and at some point the train derails. What gets praised is how little needs explaining and how clear the division of labour becomes after two runs. What stands out is the absence — nobody here writes about calm. The recurring objection: after a while the tasks repeat, and some consider the sequel overloaded.
- “I love how the game requires pure cooperation, and chaos from all the confusion!”
- “Grab a friend and prepare to scream at each other while desperately laying down tracks inches away from a moving locomotive!”
- “it was really fun until our train BLEW UP”
